The name 'Koto-no-ito' stands for "harp strings", a reference to the string-like quality of this tree's narrow, deeply divided leaf lobes. the twiggy branching features unique, divided leaves that have a tinge of red in spring, stay green during summer, then change to yellow in autumn.
